Music is Everywhere

About two weeks ago, a friend and I were riding around Sawyer Point, ( for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, it's a small park on the Cincinnati side of the ohio river.) Anyway, we were riding along when I came to an abrupt stop, my friend asked in a concerned tone, "hey man, why'd you stop?" without saying a word i lifted my finger in the fashion of E.T., in the direction of an old upright piano that had been brightly painted with all sorts of shapes and colors, "We have to play this!" I exclaimed with the excitement of a child on christmas. Pulling the bench away from the piano I noticed it was chained to the base of the piano, I took my seat and began making sweet music, starting off with a little "Imagine" by John Lennon, I quickly faded into my own works. Soft slow melodies filled the air around me, at that very moment, the world around me seemed to fall away and I was soon enveloped in a alternate reality where only the piano and I existed quite some time had passed but I hadn't noticed, then as if from thin air, a young man came up to me and said, sounding somewhat impressed, "your pretty good", I could do nothing more than say "thank you", in a meek voice as if I didn't know how to take a compliment. As I continued playing I could feel the eyes of admirers and people passing through, I didn't look back , I pressed on and played everything I could. Major chords, minor chords, progressions, you name it I attempted it. Soon enough another man came through the tunnel where I was busy brainstorming, " It sounds great" he said after he gave me a round of applause, Now I don't like to boast, but I have to say that hearing this praise made me feel pretty good about myself, funny as it seems it made the rest of the day bright. I fondly remembered that day for a few weeks, and as if by some stroke of luck or a weird coincidence, while enjoying a ride through Mainstrausse ( a small neighborhood in Covington KY) I stumbled upon a piano very similar to the one in Cincinnati, so I locked up my bike and took my seat on the bench, I started off this time with my original pieces, playing for a while, I once again lost myself in the music and played on and on until my arm was so sore that I couldn't play another note, so I grabbed my backpack and was headed on my way, when a couple of ladies had to stop me, thanking me for playing while they ate lunch and complimented me on my piano skill. needless to say I grew much more confident in my talent and can't wait to run into another mysterious piano, sitting in a random spot just waiting for me to tickle its keys.
